It’s true that laughter is contagious. We laugh and the whole world laughs with us. Is it the same with pain? Some pets communicate clearly about their pain; others can be shhhhh about their pain. It’s extremely difficult to understand that your poor pet is in pain until they give you some indications. The sooner you understand these indications, the sooner you seek help. Here are a few common indications your paw friend gives you when in pain:
Limping

Limping occurs when it hurts to put weight on a leg. That means that leg is causing pain and pets are less likely to move around or use it, and sometimes may rely on the other three legs. This might cause problems in getting up or sitting down. Try to soothe their leg by massaging on the affected leg.
Tucked in Tail

Pets that normally have an active tail might sometimes tuck in their tail or hang it down. This only means there are some bodily pains like swelling that you have to look up to. You might also notice that they are keeping an arched back because of that pain.
Heavy breathing

One of the reasons why dog pants heavily or make noises while breathing is may be because of cold or some problem in their respiratory system. Some food stuff might not be appropriate for your pet which makes their throat go for a toss. In such a case, seek help of vet who might suggest some emergency medication.
Pregnancy Pains

Some pregnancies have complications only if there are any internal bleeding, miscarriages or might be in labour pain. Look out for your bitch crying ruthlessly, scratching on the stomach vigorously or goes off her food. Seek immediate help of a vet. There might be a need of a surgery instantly.
Aggressive Behaviour

Even the most friendly paw friend can bite or be aggressive when in pain. This also happens when someone touches the affected pain area mistakenly. One of the first indications is growling, next one is pinning its ear back and last one might be showing teeth. This is the natural mechanism to show pain.
Restlessness or Sleepless Nights

Not finding comfort in bed, changing positions continuously or waking up to pee might be indications of some serious pain. Changes are also that in colder seasons, pets feel more pain on affected area than in warmer seasons. Vet might not be available late at night. Check for any injury or bandage it safely to let your pet sleep peacefully.
Vocalization

Unusual vocalizations including moaning, groaning, whimpering, yipping, and even growling can all be indications of pain. Your poor pet might go quiet who is normally very vocal about its behaviour. They might also avoid meeting you when you come home from work. Sit beside them and give a listening ear to them.
Poop Habits

Being aware of your dog’s normal bathroom habits can help you understand their problems. For instance, when a dog is in pain, you may notice that it uses a different posture when it urinates or defecates. They must’ve met with an accident and must be scared to tell you about the pain it has caused them. Look for these unusual indications to better understand your paw friend.
